No Lasik for mommy :(

I had my consultation for Lasik eye surgery today. When we went in they handed me a couple forms to fill out and a questionaire. Well, I flunked out by answering that I am a nursing mother. The receptionist said that I can't get the surgery or even come back for the consult until 6 weeks have passed after I finish nursing James. They said that the steroids that they give you get in the milk and thats obviously not good for the baby. I was super depressed since I wasn't even able to have the consult at all, they said to come back. So we have decided to put our tax return in our savings account and wait. I was just looking forward to the opportunity to see with out glasses or contacts. The most depressing thing was that we had been waiting to buy me contacts and so when we left the office we went to Sam's Club and bought a six month supply of contacts! I didn't know this before but Sam's Club has great prices on thier contacts! Just a tip for anyone who buys contacts. I also bought some more photo paper and that perked me up. So now I can print out some of the super cute pictures of the boys. Funny how simple minded I am! No lasik, so sad! Ooh, Photo paper, so happy now!

Happy Valentines Day!

So this morning I got up at 5 am to make William some pancakes for breakfast before he went to work. So here are some pictures of my handy work. While I made him pancakes he presented me with box of chocolates and some roses! Then off he went with his pancakes!

Little Will screamed no at me when I handed him his pancakes this morning, yet he some how managed to eat 3 of them!! That was the same amount I handed to his father this morning!

A mother's lullaby

I have always sung my children to sleep, that is if they don't fall asleep nursing. Lil'Will almost always fell asleep and so I didn't need to sing to him. Yet even now if he is fussy and wont sleep I can go in his room and rub his back and sing to him and he'll calm down enough to fall asleep. With all this said I have to say though that I never truly understood the power of a lullaby until James. James will fall asleep while he nurses sometimes, but almost always wakes up when he is done, so I have had to sing him to sleep, while rocking him. I am amazed at how he can be wide awake with his legs kicking and his arms flailing, then mommy will start to sing and he'll almost instantly calm down and his eyes will droop and before I know it he's breathing heavy. The reason I am amazed may be because I don't have a great voice. When I am singing I creak and wobble through, I am a child of God and Families can be together forever. Yet it always works with out fail! Thank goodness to children who don't know what good singing is and God bless all those that have to hear me sing!

The back pack carrier

We got a back pack carrier for christmas since we do like to hike around. We have been using the front carrier for James and we put Lil'Will in the back pack, except for when we do small walks around the neighborhood. These are some pictures of James using the back pack carrier and the front carrier.

As you can see dental health is very important to him!

Can you find the theme of these pictures? James seems to always fall asleep when being carried by his daddy! A day of playing at the park can sure wear him out!

The back pack is not only for sleeping but also for playing.

After watching mommy and daddy use the back pack to carry James it is only natural that Lil'Will wants to be good big brother and help carry James around! I think both would be so happy if he could!

Impressionist Art

Lil'Will loves to get to the camera. If there is any chance that we may set it down at a place where he can get his hands on it than he will. He has been known to drag a chair to the kitchen counter than stand on that and reach with all his might to try and get it on top of the fridge! So the camera stays on the other side of the fridge by a wall. But when he does get the chance to take some pictures they are beautiful!

All in all I would say he's pretty talented. Maybe he's not an Ansel Adams but then again he is only two! Who know what he'll be!

Birdseed pinecones

I have been very lucky in that I get to meet two of the other wives of Williams squadron at a park everymorning and we let the kids play. I am the only one with her own children, they do childcare out of thier homes, but the kids have a real good time. So one day they decided that we should do a craft instead of going to the park. So we had the kids make pinecones covered with peanut butter and birdseed. Lil'Will thought that this was super fun, especially since he loves peanut butter and now birdseed!! We could not stop him from eating the birdseed. Every time one of us would turn our head he would start eating away! So here are some photographs of the progression of the work.

Here he is tasting the peanut butter. He's thinking, "Ahh! Peanut butter! I knew I smelled somthing familiar. Now why are we wasting it by putting it on pinecones?"

Now what is this? Will this taste good with the peanut butter? I sure hope so!

Ohhh! Now this is going to taste good! Peanut butter with the birdseed! I wonder if I can get mom to make this for lunch!

By the way he made three of them. They now hang proudly in the backyard on a bush for all the desert bird to eat.

Lil'Wills Forts

So a couple of weeks ago we had a play date with one of my roomates from my mission, Sister Sidwell, now Kathie Barfuss. Her and her husband moved to Vegas a couple of years ago. Well, since we both have kids around the same age, the littlest ones are less than a week apart! We have a monthly play date. We went to her house for the month of January and while we were there she built a fort for the kids. Well, Lil'Will thought that this was the most awesome thing ever. I think I had built one for him a long time ago, but he was too young to enjoy it. Anyways, since we were there for our play date he has wanted to build a fort almost daily. So here are some pictures enjoying his fort.

Here he is enjoying his fort with one of his friends, Savanah. Savanah's father works with William, we are hoping to swap babysitting with them for weekly dates! They have kids basicly the same ages as ours so its great when they come to play. Everyone has someone to play with!

The gift of time

This morning I have been given the gift of time by Lil'Will. Yesterday he decided that he didn't need to take a nap even though he had gone to the park and played very hard, he was also allowed to play in the car, a favorite pass time. But alas no nap, so it was no surprise after a day of playing he fell asleep at dinner. It was six o'clock and we were sitting down and eating dinner and he put a fork full of pot roast in it and passed out!! So I woke him up and made him finish chewing his food and put him to bed. Well, since he passed out at six, this morning he awoke up at 4 starving and ready to play! So I am taking some of this extra time to update the blog. Hopefully he will be willing to go down for a nap around the same time as James does this morning! Now that would be a true gift of time!
